THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU AVATAR
To the Staff and Patrons of AVATAR:
I would like to take this opportunity to say “Thank you” for all you did to make a difference in people’s lives during the holiday season. Words cannot express how grateful I am for the love and kindness you showed to families in need. It was phenomenal!
There are two families that benefited from your benevolence. As you can
imagine, the predicament of each family is overwhelming but because of you,
they made it through the holidays. Family #1 is a product of Domestic Violence. After years of violence, the mother finally had the courage to get help for she and her children. That important step, caused her to become a single parent of three; a new born and two school age children. Needless to say, the woman was scared, and plagued with questions about bow she was going to make it. In fact, a few hours before the staff of AVATAR arrived with baskets of food and other
essentials, the woman was feeding her children noodles for dinner (that was all
she had). The children began whining and complaining that they did not want
noodles, they wanted something else (like when their father was around). The
woman feeling so overwhelmed just broke down and cried. She later put the
children to bed and then came the knock on the door: it was AVATAR.
Family #2 is a product of our economy. Family #2 is a two parent family with
three children. Until ii months ago, the father was gainfully employed while the
mother stayed home with the two younger children. Once the father become
unemployed, both parents looked for work faithfully. Odd jobs became available
to keep themselves afloat but the fact is that they could not afford daycare for the two younger children while both parents worked; nor were they making “ends
meet”. AVATAR blessed this family and made a difference. The husband
approached me with tears in his eyes and said “The love we experienced this
holiday was more than I could have asked. It helped me to believe and know that
God is faithful and that me and my family will not remain in this predicament.” I wanted to cry too.
Thank you AVATAR.
